Galen Hall Earns $888 Crazy Eights Title

Yet another World Series of Poker event has finished up at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, this time being Event #62, the $888 Crazy Eights No-Limit Hold’em 8-Handed tournament. The event saw 8,598 players competing with a prize pool of $6,872,521 generated. In the end, it was Galen Hall who earned the first-place win, after defeating Eduards Kudrjavcevs in heads-up play. With the win, Hall earned his first career WSOP bracelet, plus prize money of $888,888.

On the final day, only three players would return, Hall, Niels Herregodts and Eduards Kudrjavcevs. Hall would start as the chip leader and would never lose this position, claiming the win in just 55 hands. An all-in against Herregodts would help Kudrjavecs move from the lowest chip stack to the middle, with Herregodts eventually exiting the event in third.

Once Herregodts was eliminated, Kudrjavcevs and Hall would play for a short time and then return after a break with Kudrjavcevs having only 11 big blinds left. He would shove all-in with Jack-10 and Hall would call with pockets 9s. The 9s would hold up as the board ran 8-6-5-7-K, giving Hall his first career gold bracelet and the new title as the $888 Crazy Eights Champion.
