Maryland casinos see increase in year-on-year revenues for April

On Friday, Maryland Lottery and Gaming released the ps for April in regards to casino gaming for the state, with the gaming venues seeing an increase of just over 30% when comparing year-on-year totals. In total, $135.7 million was earned for April which is $31.8 mi 7BALL CX llion more than the same month in 2016.

MGM National Harbor has a lot to do with the growth for the state. Having first opened in December of last year, the new casino has pushed the state gaming revenues up each and every month. If you were to look at the revenue totals for every casino except the MGM National Harbor, you would find that the state actually made less for April, $18.1 million less.

The revenue total for Maryland marks the second highest monthly earnings for the six casinos of the state, falling just under the March earnings of $141.2 million. MGM National Harbor held the top spot in earnings with $49.9 million earned in April. March was their biggest month so far, with $51.2 million in earnings.

Next in line is the Maryland Live Casino, a venue that earned $45.3 million for April. This is actually a decrease for Maryland Live as they earned $12.5 million more the same month in 2016. The Horseshoe Casino Baltimore also saw a decrease in revenues, earning $24.6 million in April which is $5.7 million less than last year. Hollywood Casino Perryville also earned losses, with an 8% decrease for the month, earning only $6.5 million.

Both the Rocky Gap Casino Resort and the Casino at Ocean Downs were able to see increases for April. Rocky Gap earned $4.6 million which is a 10.2% increase while Ocean Downs brought in $4.8 million, a 3.3% increase for the month.
