The SugarHouse Casino in Pennsylvania will soon be “Rivers Casino Philadelphia” after the 260,000-square-foot casino locate 7BALL d in Philadelphia’s Fishtown neighborhood is rebranded this fall.
Opened in 2010, the casino’s owners are reportedly looking to bring the venue, which was awarded a gaming license in 2006 by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB), in line with its three sister casinos in Schenectady, New York, Des Plaines, Illinois and Pittsburgh.
The rebranding will enable regional and national marketing efforts to promote a unified brand, and will result in a ‘360-degree, full-service gaming experience—land-based, mobile and online.’

Planned investment:
Owner-operator, Rush Street Gaming’s $15 million reinvestment in the property situated along the Delaware Riverfront includes a new signature restaurant, state-of-the-art permanent sportsbook, and an online casino.
The property broke ground on July 22, 2014, on a $164 million expansion, the completion of which, was celebrated in May 2016. Planned additions will continue the transformation which will culminate in the debut of Rivers Casino Philadelphia later this fall.

PGCB recognized:
SugarHouse’s plans to rebrand were reportedly recognized during the regularly scheduled meeting of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board on June 12, 2019. According to the news agency, changes to the property, including gaming pieces, signage, Team Member uniforms and more will take place over the next several months.
The venue’s 45,000 square foot gaming floor features 1,755 slots, including High Roller slots, 105 table games, 62 hybrid gaming seats (Stadium Gaming), a 28-table poker room and a designated Sportsbook area for live sports betting. Other amenities include eight food and drinks options, live performances in the 30,000 sq ft The Event Center and more.
Sister properties:
In addition to SugarHouse’s three sister casinos in Schenectady, New York, Des Plaines, Illinois and Pittsburgh, the Chicago-based company that was founded in 2009 is comprised of internet gaming, a myriad of restaurants, multiple hotels, television production and more.
PA’s gambling landscape:
Pennsylvania recently announced that it anticipates the first series of online gambling sites will launch during the week beginning on July 15, making the Commonwealth the fourth United States jurisdiction after Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey to feature a regulated online poker market.
In addition to online gambling, the legislation signed into law by Governor Tom Wolf in October of 2017 also made Pennsylvania the fourth state to legalize online sports betting.
